This paper aimed to verify Na Haesuk’s national consciousness and her position in national movement through reviewing her family and seeing relations with surrounding people.
Na Haesuk’s family was made an appearance as patriotic intellectuals accepting modern knowledge in the Late Chosun dynasty and Japanese colonial period, but also had pro-Japanese side in general. These atmosphere of her family had an effect to Na Haesuk’s national movement and consciousness.
She showed an advanced female intellectual through studying in Japan, 3‧1 Movement, and announcing social contribution in early 1920’s, and her social national consciousness was adhered to her whole life. Through this growth of national consciousness in 1920’s she actively helped the activities of Uiyoldan and korean anarchists such as Kim Sihyun, Yu Seokhyeon, Park Hongki, Nam Jeongkak, Yu Jamyeong, Jeong Hwaam using political position of his husband in Andong, China.
Also, these activities of Na Haesuk involved some risk to herself. At that time of 3‧1 Movement, Kim Maria, Hwang Easter, Cha Kyungsin were representative figures who related with Na Haesuk of independence movement. However, Na Haesuk’s national consciousness and movement became weak because of her divorce in the late of 1920’s and drasctic social prejudices.
