Purpose: This research investigates the Lived experiences of Childrearing among nurses who works threeshift-schedules in a general hospital. The findings of this study provide supportive data for contextualized policies to establish child-rearing circumstances for nurses. Methods: This study harnesses phenomenological qualitative research. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with 10 nurses between June and October, 2011. Colaizzi method (1978) was used for data analysis. Results: The analysis produced five themes: ‘Struggling to fulfill Responsibilities under Hardship’, ‘Feeling guilty about Maternal Duties’, ‘Heading through the Wholeness of Family with My baby’, ‘Feeling love and Hatred for Nursing’, ‘Dwelling in the Feelings of Gratitude and Regret’, Conclusion: The research participants experienced both physical and mental fatigue, due to irregular shiftwork, posing negative effects on their child-rearing. Therefore, hospitals’ childcare facilities should be improved not only in quantity, but also, in quality to satisfy working mothers. Moreover, paternal duty at home is vital, and thereby, this research suggests policies such as childcare leave and/or flexible working environments.
