This study investigates aspects of revision in advanced KFL learners’ writing. For this study, 18Chinese KFL students and 5 Korean students wrote a composition in Korean on the subject ‘Conditions for Success’. After assessment, each of the 23 compositions were divided into 3 groups, named less-skilled L2 group(C1), skilled L2 group(C2) and Korean L1 group(K). Each group revisions were coded to indicate whether they occurred during Stage 1, Stage 2, or Stage 3 of the writing process and were also analysed as immediate/distant changes, surface/text-based changes, phrase/clause changes, and additions/deletions/substitutions. Through the examination of the revisions showed that less-skilled L2 group revised the most, however, majority of revision of C1 were only surface revisions. Moreover, it showed that unskilled L2group revised uneffectively. Results also suggest that, whereas skilled L2 group`s revision tendency is somewhere in between C1 and K but in more similar ways to K,less-skilled L2 group revised in different ways to group K and C2. Skilled L2 group tended to revise after the completion of the draft due to the fact that they recognized their limitation as a KFL writers and also they did not put much efforts in the lexical and grammatical selection during the transforming stage, whereas less-skilled L2group revised considerably during planning and transforming stages. Again, this study represents how advanced KFL learners revise their compositions and shows implications for writing education.
