The purpose of this paper is to analyze the lexical phenomena of Xixiang ji that is owned by the main library of Catholic University of Daegu . The summarizing of this paper is same as below;
First, the annotation is reflected the perception of the person who translates. Therefore the vocabulary and recording in the annotation is not mere equivalent for native Korean words but it is reflected the process of translation closely and it shows attitude of the translator. So the aspect of the selection of word is changed by the free translation or not.
Second , there are some vocabularies which have to register on dictionary newly; ‘baroshʌ- ’(바롯하- ), ‘eotryeonmudeun’(어련무던), ‘imuisgeos’(임의□), ‘malgommalgom’(말곰말곰), ‘jʌgeunjʌgeun’(자근자근), ‘chyohʌ-(쵸하- )’, masyu gi- ’(맛슉이- ), ‘sohʌ- (소하-)’, ‘dalii- ’(달이이- ), ‘maldokbak -’ (말독박- ), ‘guksyugongi’(국슈공이), ‘ururu (우루루)’, ‘dʌidanh ʌ- (□단하- )’, ‘sulleongsulleong’(술넝술넝), ‘eukjireu - ’(윽지르- ), ‘hesilhom ’(헷일홈), etc. And there are some new expressions; ‘albam tonggi-’(알밤 통기-), ‘wangbamjyu - ’(왕밤 쥬- ), ‘‘deulmeugyeobo - (들먹여 보-)’, etc.
Third, there are some words which need to register add the new meaning or modify the form in this book ; ‘barammach - ’(바람맞-), ‘jinʌi-’(지□- ), ‘sgeulh ’(□- ), ‘deulmeogi-’(들먹이- ), etc. In addition there are some words have to an alyze the mean ing relation ; ‘saldeuri’(살드리), ‘masdeukjanh - ’ (맛득잔타), ‘jyumakjangi’(쥬막장이), etc. There are some words that had been selected by free translation ; ‘dorasyeo - ’(도라셔- ), ‘gudeungi’(구덩이), ‘gyejip huri- ’(계집 후리- ), ‘beomuisorʌi’(범의 소□), etc.
Forth, there are some annotations which are hard to analyze the meaning and they must be identified in the future; ‘georeo daruieo eo phdeurid a’(거러 다릐여 엎드리다), ‘gyeoldankho isyeo khwaihʌda’(결단코 이셔 쾌하다), etc. There are some errors in writing; ‘jibui/jib eo’(집의/집어), ‘swin’(쉰), etc.
There are a lot of various Xixiang ji versions, gugyeol text and transcription, so it is necessary to analyze the materials in the view of Korean linguistics, expecially its lexical and syntactic characteristics and the aspect of translation. Furthermore the texts which had been written in 18th ~ 19th century must be studied to analyze the effects to the lexical system of modern Korean language.
