The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of Taekwondo character education program (enhancing personality through Taekwondo) on character and happiness for elementary school students. The participants consisted of 60 elementary students who were randomly assigned to each 20 Taekwondo character education program group, Taekwondo training program and control group in school. The measures of this study were made up of self-report questionnaires and qualitative data(in-depth interview and activity feeling open-questionaries). The self-report instruments were composed of character inventory and happiness scale. Qualitative data were participants’ perception about the effects of Taekwondo character education program. Taekwondo character education program for elementary schoolchild was developed by previous literatures, interview, self-report questionnaires data, and sports psychologists consultation. Taekwondo character education program consisted of 10 sessions. The results were as follows. Firstly, both Taekwondo character education program and Taekwondo training program had positive effect on sociality of elementary schoolchildren. Secondly, both Taekwondo character education program and Taekwondo training program had positive effect on morality of elementary schoolchildren. Thirdly, Taekwondo character education program and Taekwondo training program had positive effect on sensitivity of elementary schoolchildren. Fourthly, there was a significant difference subject to time in happiness of elementary schoolchild. Lastly, sociality, morality, sensitivity, and happiness of elementary schoolchildren were enhanced in qualitative data. Due to limitations in this study. further discussion is needed in future.
