"Research to understand the situation of the underground Christian seminaries in China is hardly discussed in the socio-theological academic world. This article aims to use qualitative research and socio-theological narrative to present this rare phenomenon. By studying a real existent underground seminary in the south of China through first-person engagement, I attempt to disclose the potential impact of the underground seminarian education, gained through hardship and toughness, to the faithful Chinese Christians pilgrims. I also attempt to prove that even though change from traditional Chinese-identified values to Christian cross-bearing values in the China context is a long-term work with much challenge and intimidation, more and more Chinese are plunging into the transformative journey of following Jesus with good faith and resilience. They may often and temporarily fail on the underground seminarian pilgrimage, but some of them will never give up and continue to press forward until they make it through. Such underground spiritual and educational transformation has brought a prominent breakthrough to Chinese Christians under the communistic ideological control."
