This paper examines Shakespeare’s Macbeth, focusing on the supernatural entities’ impact on the protagonist’s interpersonal and institutional relations. While Macbeth, affected by supernatural agents, probes the core value of homosociality in his pursuit of power, he also reveals the immanent and innate evil in humanity. Depending on one’s political and moral standpoints, to dethrone a ruler could be regarded either as a form of dynastic transition or as an act of usurpation. In the process of dynastic revolution or usurpation, the principal agent of political upheaval often finds the rationale for the decisive step from his spiritual communion with supernatural entities. Macbeth’s alienation from homosociality is obviously triggered by his communion and consultation with supernatural entities. Macbeth’s spiritual communion with them is a component of his political performance. Also, through the soliloquies present in the play, we can observe how the protagonist is mentally agitated by their comradeship with them.
