With the collapse of Goryeo and the founding of Joseon, it is widely understood that the controlling ideology was shifted from Buddhism to Confucianism. For this implication, there seem to be the perception that the time from the end of Goryeo to the start of Joseon was the transition period of social system as well as conversion period of the ideological history. And it showed the advancement from the Buddhist society of Goryeo to the Confucius society of Joseon. It seems clear that the founding of Joseon was the turning point of political and social change, but there still is a need to take a look at more details on what and how the founding of Joseon changed. Publications of Buddhism have the characteristics that the accurate record of publishing time was made. Comparing the later time of Goryeo and early time of Joseon, there was no showing of any drastic change in terms of publication volume. In particular, the trend of the state and royal family publishing publication of Buddhism directly continued up to the end of 15C and it may require re-interpretation with respect to the stable operation of the state’s Buddhist-priest governing system up to the end of 15C. This has been understood in general that the founding of Joseon turned the politics and society quickly into the Confucius state while the state and Confucius ruling oppressed Buddhism, but under the current context, it implies a need for close review of Confucianization of politics and society of Joseon as well as relationship of state, Confucianism and Buddhism. It seems to have a need to re-interpretation on the ideological implication of the founding of Joseon.
