The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term nutritional status and changes in biochemical markers according to the dietary intakes of individuals with intellectual disabilities living in the social welfare facilities. Food and nutrient intake for four years were calculated for 17 individuals with intellectual disabilities who lived in the social welfare facilities from 2013 to 2016. This study compared changes in nutrient intake and blood pressure, body weight, body mass index (BMI), blood sugar levels, liver function test results, hemoglobin levels, and total cholesterol levels by year. The results showed that excessive intake of energy and macronutrients persisted until 2015, but a decline in energy and carbohydrate intake was noticeable in 2016. Regarding other micronutrients, the risk of deficiency was low due to the intake of more than the recommended nutrient intake levels, but the lack of riboflavin intake and excessive sodium intake were problematic. Comparing the changes in the biochemical indicators by year revealed that body weight, blood sugar levels, total cholesterol levels, and BMI tended to decrease significantly in 2016. It is anticipated that the results of this study, based on data obtained over a long period, will be useful for individuals with intellectual disabilities who are vulnerable to nutrition deficiencies and will be useful data for their nutrition and health.
