On this thesis, I start at the question “Can a religion promise a future without anxiety to us?” In order to search for the answer, I examined Matthew 6:34 of Christian bible. Matthew 6:34 has been interpreted as the promise for the future without anxiety. The result of sociological reinterpretation which depend methodologically on the rhetorical criticism of Trible and the discourse theory of Laclau and Mouffe is different from that promise. It has been rather understood as “Sorry, I can’t promise the future without anxiety. It’s your share. Please endure your today’s hard work.” This thesis has analyzed Matthew 6:34 and 6:25-34 but not expanded the scope of research to the “Sermon on the Mount.”
