The perception of dating violence in Korea was perceived simply as a minor quarrel between two people in dating relationship. Recently, however, dating violence crime was recognized a serious social problem as it has occurred in a very habitual, persistent and cruel form. Nonetheless, there is still no legal mechanism to deal with dating violence properly. In the case of occurred victimization of dating violence, Korea is solving it by using the criminal law or special law. This is because it is impossible to cope with dating violence in various forms due to the nature of dating violence. Therefore, a new legal system that reflects the traits of dating violence crime is required. In this regard, foreign laws related to dating violence, which recognize the seriousness of dating violence and legalized it, and make efforts to protect victims, and to prevent crime, give us a lot of suggestions.
Meanwhile, dating violence crime is a crime that requires more preventive measures as well as follow-up measures. Thus, there are various ways to prevent dating violence and protect victims. But among them, in order to protect the potential victim of the dating violence, Education and public relations on the concept and type of the dating violence, the way of coping with it, the counseling and protection of the victim, and punishment cases of offenders should be preceded. Because such education and publicity will contribute to reducing dating violent crime as a preventive effect, through the right understanding of dating violence to the perpetrator as well as the victim of dating violence.
Meanwhile, dating violence crime is a crime that requires more preventive measures as well as follow-up measures. Thus, there are various ways to prevent dating violence and protect victims.
