하루는 밤과 낮의 순환으로 이루어지고 계절은 봄- 여름 – 가을- 겨울로 진행된다. 지구가 자전하는 가운데 밤과 낮의 무늬가 나오고, 지구가 공전하면서 계절이 변화한다. 봄에는 새싹이 돋고 새로운 시작을 알리며, 여름에는 녹음이 짙어지고 성장한다. 가을에는 단풍이 물들고 식물은 결실을 맺으며, 겨울에는 흰 눈이 내리고 씨는 땅 속에서 다가오는 봄을 기다린다. 수시로 변화하는 계절에 적응하지 못하는 생물은 도태되거나 사라지게 된다. 변화에 적응하기 위해서는 변화의 흐름에 맞는 리듬을 탈 줄 알아야 한다. 따뜻한 봄에는 씨를 뿌려야 싹을 틔울 수 있다. 따뜻한 봄날 적당한 시기에 씨를 뿌리지 않으면 새싹은 돋아나지 않게 된다. 새싹이 돋아나지 않으면 여름의 성장이나 가을의 결실은 있을 수 없다. 봄에 새싹이 돋아났지만 여름에 제대로 성장을 하지 않으면 가을의 결실은 제대로 이루어지지 않는다. 야생에 있는 씨앗도 겨울을 지나 따뜻한 봄이 올 때까지 땅속에서 참고 견뎌야 하는데, 겨울에 싹을 틔우고 나오면 얼어 죽을 수밖에 없다. 인간의 삶 또한 마찬가지이다. 처음 조직에 들어가서는 함부로 경거망동하지 말아야 한다. 실력을 축적하고 때가 올 때까지 참고 부지런하게 배우면서 때가 오기를 기다릴 줄 알아야 한다. 어느 정도 전문가로 자리를 잡아 실무를 맡게 되면 소극적으로 남의 눈치만 보지 말고 조직의 핵심 관리자와 긴밀한 관계를 유지하여 적극적으로 일을 추진하여야 한다. 조직의 핵심 관리자 또한 중심을 잡으면서 자신의 역량을 마음껏 발휘해야 한다. 이 때 유의할 점은 각 분야 전문가의 조언을 얻고 자신이 펼치고자 하는 뜻이 적절하게 적용될 수 있도록 해야 한다는 점이다. 정상에 올라서면 내려올 준비를 해야 한다. 인간의 삶 또한 시작할 때가 있고 끝맺음을 할 때가 있다. 오르막이 있고 내리막이 있기 마련이다. 봄이 오면 겨울이 오고 오르막이 있으면 내리막이 있듯이 물러날 때는 집착하거나 미련을 두지 말고 그 때를 알아 적절하게 물러날 줄도 알아야 한다. 올라갈 줄만 알고 내려올 줄 모르면 내려올 때 어려움에 봉착하게 된다. 逢變을 당하는 것이다. 모두가 잘났다고 자랑하는 분위기 속에서는 잘난 체하지 않고 겸손한 마음으로 주어진 역할에 충실해야 자신을 온전하게 보존할 수 있다. 오늘날 우리 사회는 각자 역할에 맞는 적합한 행동을 제대로 수행하지 않아 많은 사회적 문제를 도출하고 있다. 그런 측면에서 『周易』乾卦의 卦辭와 각 爻辭, 用九 등이 내포하고 있는 윤리적 함의는 수시로 변화하는 상황에서 현대인들이 어떻게 살아야 하는지에 대한 많은 시사점을 제시해주고 있다.

One day is a cycle of night and day, and the seasons are progressing with spring‐summer‐autumn‐winter. As the earth rotates, the patterns of night and day come out, and as the earth revolves, the seasons change. In spring, buds grow and announce new beginnings, and during the summer, the green grow thick and thicker. In autumn, the leaves are colored and the plants are fruitful, and in winter, white snow falls and seeds wait in the ground for spring. Organisms that do not adapt to the changing seasons often go away or disappear. To adapt to change, it is necessary to have to understand the rhythm of the flow of change. In the warm spring, seeds must be sown to bud. If the seed is not sown at a suitable time in a warm spring day, the bud will not sprout. If buds do not grow, there will be no growth of summer or fruit of autumn. Although sprouts have emerged in spring, if autumn does not grow properly in the summer, the fruit of autumn will not be achieved properly. The seeds in the wild have to endure in the ground until the warm spring passes by in winter, but when they sprout in the winter, they are forced to freeze to die. Human life is also the same. The first time you enter the organization, you should not commit any rash attempt or blind behavior. You must know how to accumulate your skills and wait till the time comes, learning to be diligent and waiting for the time to come. If you take a position as a specialist and take a job, you should actively pursue your work by maintaining a close relationship with the core manager of the organization, not neglecting others. The core manager of the organization should also take the initiative and fully exercise your skills based on his or her own capabilities. It is important to note that you should seek advice from experts in each field and make sure that your intentions are appropriately applied. Once you are at the top, you should be ready to come down. Human life also has a beginning and a closing time. There is an uphill and there is a downhill. As the spring comes, the winter comes. If there is an uphill, there is a downhill. When it’s time to retreat, you do not cling to or oblivious to it and you also need to know how to get away properly. When you know how to go up and you do not know how to get down, you will face difficulty when you get down. It is a meeting with a mishap(逢變). In an atmosphere full of proud in which everyone is proud, we must be faithful to the roles given to us with humility, without being stupid, and we can preserve ourselves fully. Today, our society does not perform the appropriate actions that each person has to take as his/her own role, which causes many social problems. In that respect, the ethical implication of Gwaesa (卦辭) and Hyosa (爻辭) and Yonggu (用九) in the “Qian” Diagram(乾卦) of 󰡔Zhou Yi(周易)󰡕 presents many suggestions for how modern people should live in ever‐changing situations.
