Buddhism is a religion created by Sakyamuni in India. Therefore the "Miraculous Images(瑞像)" worshiped by people in the Southern and Northern Dynasties are largely the images of Sakyamuni Buddha produced in India. Through an analysis on the documents and the introduction inscriptions of statues in the Southern and Northern Dynasties, this essay came to a conclusion that at that time the "Miraculous Images" are made up of two types, that is, Udayana statue(優塡王像) and Asokan statue(阿育王像). More interestingly, the people in the Southern and Northern Dynasties differed in "Miraculous Images" worship: in the Southern Dynasties people mainly worshiped Asokan statue while the cases of the worship to Udayana statue are scarcely found; in the Northern Dynasties Udayana statue were well known but the worship to the Asokan statue can not be found at all. Then, why such difference occurs? This essay is trying to probe the background on the difference from two perspectives: firstly makes an analysis on the process of conveying Buddhism into China to discover major reasons; secondly focuses on the geological surroundings in the Southern Dynasties to found minor reasons. Based on the analysis on the "Miraculous Images" worship in ancient Korea, this essay claims that the "Miraculous Images" worship of Silla Dynasty(新羅) in the period of Three Kingdoms had been influenced by the worship to the Asokan statue in the Southern Dynasties of China.
