This study examined how learners memorize expressions effectively. Therefore, this study looks into memorizing effect using American TV drama, The Mentalist with four college students. They are highly motivated. Four scenes are chosen and using them, the subjects performed the episodic memory activity. The result was that all the four subjects increased noticing. However, three of them were interested in not content but the language. They had interest in memorizing “practical expressions”. Practical expressions are used under the suitable circumstances and if learners didn't use them under similar environment, the expressions are easy to be forgotten. So, the episodic activity can't be effective than expected. This study suggests the following: First, a teacher needs to explain the correlation between memorizing expressions and the language development. The learners should know the reason of memorizing expressions not for learning "practical expressions" but for the language development. Second learners need to enter into the world they are used in. Movies and TV dramas are types of worlds. Learners need to know who the people belong in that world are and must take on their values. If only learner is ready for this, they finally increased to their expressiveness through language development.
