Now, China is waiting eagerly the enormous international event, Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The supreme commander of the opening and the closing ceremony is Zhang Yimou, well-known director for his brilliant and famous films from <Red Sorghum>(1988), <Raise The Red Lantern>(1991) to <Hero>(2002) and <Lovers>(2004). It seems that there are some reasons for his huge mission of the Olympic Games related to the condition of China as radically developing socialist state. This notes is an attempt for illuminating the Nationalism of Zhang Yimou's latest trilogy, <Hero>, <Lovers>, and <Curse of the Golden Flower>(2006), which put him on the most important position of huge international event. In the very beginning, as a member of 'The 5th Generation' of Chinese film history, Zhang Yimou made films exposing private parts of China based on plain rural lives. However, the historic martial-arts trilogy show us strong ideology supporting the new Nationalism of China. The world powers regards that China is getting powerful and it makes them fearful and critical to China. Therefore, China needs new Nationalism which strengthen their political system and ideas of nation. Revealing Confucian ideas and tremendous traditions have been the most efficient and frequent strategies for those and Zhang Yimou put them on the trilogy. <Hero> is kind of a spectacle movie showing "massive" and "splendid"which can make spectators amazed. <Lovers> have strong Confucian ideas from the point of view as the role of female. Almost all of the set and custom of <Curse of the Golden Flower> are made of Gold or glaring yellow. It means the strong royal family and power of China. Thus, the films of Zhang Yimou these days changes drastically and it is related to new Nationalism of China. And there are many Chinese directors following Zhang Yimou after the success of historic martial arts trilogy. It is natural phenomenon of the condition of China and we cannot stop them. However we should not accept and get deceived their narrow ideas of new Nationalism.
