The cost of taxi operation has been influenced by the price of LPG(Liquefied Petroleum Gas). This study are going to study how to enlarge the introduction of taxis moving by CNG cheaper than LPG in price. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to improve problems related to the service of CNG(Compressed Natural Gas) taxis in Gyeonggi-Do.
The result of this study shows that there are a couple of problems on the CNG taxi service. First, there are no sufficient CNG gas stations in Gyeonggi-Do. Although a number of CNG gas stations keep operating rate low, they have prevented taxis from filling CNG. Therefore, taxi operators have preferred to take the LPG taxis rather than CNG taxies.
To enlarge the introduction of CNG taxis, first of all, the operation rate of CNG gas stations should be increased. And then lots of gas stations should be constructed in Gyeonggi-Do. The strict regulation related to the construction of them should be also revised reasonably.
Taxi operators think the CNG taxis are more competitive in operating cost than LPG taxis, but they need a lot of money to take CNG taxis changed from LPG to CNG in the fuel system. Therefore, the public agencies should give more subsidies to taxi operators to promote the introduction of CNG taxis.
