This study aims to identify recent trends of voice search and characterize voice queries in order to respond to new search environments that exchange information through voice. To that end, the company compared the difference between voice queries and text queries that were inputted through the Naver app and looked at differences in usage patterns depending on the device where voice interaction takes place. Compared to text queries, voice queries were represented with more natural sentence forms, various word orders, query content in detail, and diverse form of unnecessary words. In addition, through AI speakers with enabling voice control, users mostly used it for device controlling such as playing voice content(music, fairy tale) or setting up alarms rather than for search. These features were identified to highlight the advantages of voice search and to seek ways to optimize search results.
