The purpose of this study is 1) to analyze which factors play the most important role in food tourism motivation and 2) to understand how food tourism motivation affects behavioral intention (participation & recommendation intention). In order to expand the demand for food tourism, this study targets young people. As doing so, it is possible to grasp the possibility of expanding food tourism to young people, and to provide basic data to activate food tourism
The questionnaires were collected from over 20-30‘s aging group who reside in Jea-cheon, ChungBuk province. The survey was conducted for about 3 weeks from July, 1, 2019, and 300 copies were distributed and 259 copies were used for analysis.
The results are as follows. The research results are as follows. First, three factors were derived from food tourism motivation: "food efficacy/interest", "food-related information collection", and "food culture experience". Second, in the average value of food tourism motives, "food reflects the culture of the country", "provides opportunities for new cultural experiences" were high. Third, "food-related information collection", "food culture experience", and "food efficacy/interest" were found to have an important influence on participation. Thus, hypothesis 1 was adopted. Fourth, it was found that the factors of "food culture experience" and "food-related information collection" had a significant effect on the recommendation intention. Thus, hypothesis 2 was partially adopted.
