The Southwest region of Vietnam includes provinces such as Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, An Giang, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, and Can Tho City. Because of its geographical-historical and geographical-politic position, historical figures associated in the Southwest cultural space from the early days when the French arrived and established their colonial invasion in Vietnam. The famous historical figures such as Truong Dinh, Nguyen Tan Kieu, Vo Duy Duong, Nguyen Trung Truc, Tran Van Thanh all sacrificed in the resistance movements to fight against the French colonialists. They became historical figures for people to admire and worship. This article identifies the historical character beliefs, one characteristic of folklore beliefs in the South of Vietnam. Thereby, clarify the transforming process of historical figure beliefs through the time in features and value perspective.
