About 230 iron production sites in eastern region of Jeollabuk-do have been reported to the academic community. The number and distribution of sites discovered until now are as follows: about 150 sites in the Geumgang river basin; 40 sites in the Namgang river basin; 20 sites in the Seomjingang river basin; and 20 sites in the Mangyeonggang river basin. The final destination of restored 8 roads of Bongsu(Beacon fire sys- tem) in eastern region of Jeollabuk-do was found to be Janggye Basin in Jangsu-gun, thereby assuming Jangsu Gaya to be Banpa-guk which ap- peared in literature. Kimun-kuk, which was regionally based in the Namgang river basin, has drawn much attention from academia as it served as a hub for exchange in Northeast Asia, collecting the finest im- perial presents and earthenware. The Seomjingang river basin acted as the base of trade network liking all directions. The Mangyeonggang river basin was seen as the site for ironwork processing and distribution. This study incorporated archaeological data into literature in the circumstance that there is little research on iron production sites in eastern region of Jeollabuk-do and iron culture, therefore, it is inevitable that there are some jumps in the logic.
