The author of this article is purposed firstly to investigate the background and all the circumstances in detail of the anti-Japanese bombing undertaking by Choi Subong(최수봉) at the Milyang Police Station at December 27, 1920, and to futhermore reconstruct a full picture of the accident, lastly to inquire into its historical meanings and significances. The author takes mainly a kind of microhistorilcal approach composed of carefully re-reading and comparatively analyzing the primary documents such as investigation reports by police and prosecutory authorities, judgement decisions, newspaper articles, and other materials concerning Choi Subong's life course, followed by synthesizing the results of those works and by operating a somewhat restoring reasoning. Choi, born in 1894, went successively to four schools in Milyang, Busan and Pyeong-yang, became a Christian and incessantly groped for ways of the fatherland's independence, cultivating the anti-Japanese mind and thought. About the year of 1918, he went forward to the road of national independence movement by going to Manchuria. After having come back to Milyang around 1919~1920, he became a member of Euiyeoldan along with accepting the proposal from Kim Sang-yun and Yi Jong-am, both the founding members of the association, and received two bombs made by Goh Indeock's cooperation, and finally launched the undertaking. Showing a righteous and ardent mettle with a dauntless attitude in court and dying by sentence execution, he really deserved to be called as a heroic martyr. His undertaking encouraged in consequence the militant camp of national independence movement, and served as a stepping-stone by which Euiyeoldan would rise up by being recovered from the former failure of the first Great Domestic Undertaking plan. In relation to that significance, the following point must be kept in mind. That is, although his deed was taken solely, its planning and preparation had been set on the dimension of Euiyeoldan's project. Therefore, it must be seen as a collective undertaking connected directly to Euiyeoldan's early struggle, rather than as a purely individual and lonely one.
