This paper is a report on the class design course and class result of PBL which is applied for ‘Chinese history and culture’opened as required course for ‘O’ University located in Gyeonggi do. The goal of this class is to give the students the understanding, knowledge, ability to think and insight on Chinese history and culture to have background knowledge and interest in the study of Chinese. This course included lectures in the class and PBL activities (on and off line team and individual class). The students were usually satisfied with the PBL class. They replied that their interest in China has increased and it was helpful to get information. First, the students were able to understand Chinese society and culture syntagmatically, cultivate their ability of autodidacticism, form familiarity with the other members and understand the other group members. Second, the contents of each group showed variety of pictures and videos. Thanks to that, students’ learning satisfaction were high by understanding the life style and viewpoints of Chinese by comparing the cultures between China and Korea. So this paper is meaningful in the point that it applied PBL in the class of Chinese history and culture and tried specific practices and exploration.
