In modern society, people need a new domain of expression according to trends in expressing their personalities and beauty satisfaction. This study attempted to explore domains of expression in nail art by creating new nail art according to the keywords of fashion trends, focusing on the top four fall/winter fashion collections in 2018, considering the close relationship between nail art and fashion collections. For this, eight pieces of nail art were made based on eight different trend keywords from the fall/winter fashion collections 2018 (New York, London, Milano and Paris) announced by FashionN. Trend keywords from the top four fall/winter fashion collections (London, New York, Milano and Paris) in 2018 were then taken as motifs. Street-intimate coats expressed a fancy, future-oriented light while 3D pleat decorations illustrated the active woman. In addition, prints represented both splendor and femininity. Animal prints expressed a wild, womanly aspect while the color red symbolized peace and stability against stress. Furthermore, ‘Western’ expressed a folksy, ethnic feel. A ‘layered’ revealed classic beauty with confidence while grid patterns delivered an elegant and antique mood. As stated above, new nail art was created with trends from the fashion collections. This study has renewed the vision in academic studies in the domain of expression in nail art. Further empirical development and continued studies of nail art are highly anticipated.
