Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is one of the most severe epileptic encephalopathies of childhood onset. It is characterized by multiple types of generalized seizures, slowness of intellectual growth, and specific electroencephalogram patterns. It is one of the most difficult epilepsy syndromes to treat and is frequently resistant to treatment. In this report, we present the details of a child with LGS who received dental treatment under general anesthesia. A 6-year-old girl with LGS visited Seoul National University Dental Hospital for dental treatment. Through clinical examination, severe multiple caries lesions on the primary teeth were detected. Gingival swelling on lower anterior teeth was also observed. Because of her medical condition, dental treatment was planned under general anesthesia. Dental caries treatment with stainless-steel crown restoration was performed with no postoperative complications. The patient recovered fully from general anesthesia and was discharged the same day without the need for hospitalization. For patients with LGS who require dental treatment, a treatment plan should be established that takes into consideration the degree of seizure, medication being used, and patient cooperation. If the degree of seizure is severe and the patient’s cooperation is poor, dental treatment under general anesthesia is advantageous.
