Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the causal relationship of Learned helplessness and Fear of Failure and Perceptions of Error, and to mediating effect of Perceptions of Error in the relationship between Learned helplessness and Fear of Failure.
Methods: To this end, 306 College Athletes from Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Chungbuk, and Jeonbuk universities were selected as a sample and using Spss 23 and Amos 23, descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, skewness, kurtosis, correlation analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis , the structural model results and mediating effects were verified.
Results: As a result of this study, First, Learned helplessness had a significant negative effect on Perceptions of Error. Second, Learned helplessness had a significant effect on Fear of Failure. Third, Perceptions of Error had a significant negative effect on Fear of Failure. Fourth, there was a partial mediating effect of Perceptions of Error in the relationship between Learned helplessness and Fear of Failure.
Conclusion: Based on the above results, it will be a stepping stone toward the studies about the impact of Perceptions of Error, Learned helplessness ,and the relationship among the psychological factors that affect Fear of Failure. It will also provide an academic foundation for utilizing error recognition to create a practical environment that reduces students’ learned helplessness and fear of failure.
