The penetration rate of smartphones in Korea is over 95%. Mobile applications are now widely accessible; therefore, numerous products and services are experiencing digitfal transformation. Notably, the music industry has changed in terms of music consumption. with excellent accessibility, mobility, and quality, music streaming applications have gained popularity rapidly among younger generations. However, unfortunately, these practical applications are rather difficult for the seniors. As a consequence, the seniors’ music streaming application usage rate is very low. Complex conventional UX designs such as numerous options, complex multi steps for final choice, and unaccustomed screen touch structure stop seniors from utilizing these applications. Complex conventional UX designs such as a lot of options, complex multi steps for final choice and unaccustomed screen touch structure stop seniors from utilizing these applications. Thus, this paper analyzes the design of the leading music streaming application, and proposes a new UX design suitable for seniors. The first proposal is a widget that has the advantage of allowing users to play their desired songs and artists with a touch of a button straight from the mobile home screen. As a result, this function rids the hectic process of finding and opening the application. Once the seniors experience this service, they are likely to gain confidence and continue with the music application. The second proposal is the simplification of the application's home screen by removing functions seniors are less likely to use. Overall, the two proposals aim to help seniors listen to their favorite singers’ music with the least amount of steps thereby increasing music streaming application users and further improving their digital literacy. The proposed designs were tested by seniors group aged 65 and up where they were asked to play, like, and record music. Ultimately, the seniors enjoyed using the proposed designs and had interest in utilizing the service in the future. Although this research was done with a Korean music platform, the design approach is equally applicable on any other music platforms worldwide.
