Purpose: The purpose of this study is to review the current state of research on screen golf in domestic physical education and propose research topics to be explored at the sociological level of local sports, taking into account the social uniqueness of screen golf.
Method: The subject of analysis in this study was screen golf research published in domestic journals. Literature analysis was conducted from 2009 to 2024 on the topic of screen golf.
Results: The results of this study are as follows. There are three main trends in domestic screen golf research: (1) research trends focused on sports management, (2) research trends focused on variables related to motivation and satisfaction to participate, and (3) leisure, psychological, and sociological variables intertwine, causing ambiguity in crowded research fields. In addition, discussions on the process of installing and spreading screen golf as a sociological topic for sports sociological discussions include (1) self-formation and interaction of screen golf participants, (2) relationships between organizations surrounding screen golf, and (3) discussions on the process of installing and spreading screen golf due to social changes.
Conclusion: This study was an attempt to understand the ‘subdivision of sports’ and develop theoretical content knowledge. Leaders in physical education and sports major theorists intend to contribute to the academic discourse on screen golf.
