The purpose of this study was to review trends and characteristics of the researches on the elderly in care facilities rapidly increased due to societal aging. For this, 13 researches published in KCI journals that met the analysis criteria were selected and analyzed according to general characteristics, variables, results, and rationale evaluation as well as reporting guidelines for music interventions. As a result, regarding intervention goals, psychological and emotional domains accounted for the largest proportion and this seems to be associated with the trait of the elderly in care facilities more vulnerable in that domains than the general elderly due to residing in a closed space and experiencing changes in their living. Recent researches have clearly outlined the connection between music interventions and their goals to support rationale reflecting a continuous development in the area. The analysis based on the guidelines revealed that delivery unit and schedules of interventions were relatively well reported, however, therapist, intervention integrity, and setting were not sufficiently described. It is meaningful that this study suggests directions for strengthening the expertise and effectiveness of further research by in-depth analysing music intervention researches focusing on the elderly in care facilities.
