As economic and social policies for carbon neutrality are strengthened around the world, hydrogen energy is in the spotlight as an alternative energy source to overcome the limitations of the fossil fuel system and achieve the carbon neutrality goal in various industries aimed at decarbonization. In particular, the hydrogen fuel cell field is likely to be used in transportation, power generation, and industrial fields, and the growth of related industrial markets is increasing, and technology competition is fierce between countries to preoccupy the industrial ecosystem.
This study aims to contribute to the establishment of technology development strategies and the resolution of uncertainty in R&D directions by comparing domestic and foreign trends and deriving promising technologies through time series analysis of unstructured data included in papers and patents.
As a result of comparative analysis through domestic papers and patents, it was confirmed that the research direction and progress of hydrogen fuel cell technology correspond to technology development and related industry trends. In addition, analysis through domestic and foreign patents showed that promising technologies with high potential for technological innovation have become electronic devices, which could lead to the commercialization of various hydrogen fuel cell-based vehicles, and related industries and technologies are expected to develop rapidly.
It is expected that this study will contribute to establishing R&D goals and strategic directions to secure the technological superiority of hydrogen fuel cells, the core technology of the rapidly changing future energy industry.
