New media and the internet have changed publishing. This study combines transmedia and bookstore space. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present the possibilities and relationships between the transmedia concept and the complex bookstore space, and to provide the basis for the establishment of temporal space planning considering the characteristics of transmedia. The research is organised in two steps: extracting theory and space components, and analysing cases for space planning. Previous studies’ main characteristics and components were used to analyse the FGI results of five Korean bookstores. The case analysis showed that extensibility was mainly expressed in the display and resting spaces. Second, narrativity was expressed in relatively all spaces, but it was higher in the rest space and the consumption space, which provides content centred on stories. Third, interactivity was more prevalent in rest areas, which consisted of seating areas. To optimise a mixed-use bookstore, consider interactivity. Consider a dynamic space or reorganised shelf. You can add content for a richer spatial experience. This study analyzes the application of transmedia characteristics in such a complex bookstore space and suggests directions for the development of bookstore space.
