After the Japanese annexation Korea, in the 1990s the adapted and translated novels have been maiden progress as different formats. Especially, the adapted and translated novels published in 'Maeil-Sinbo' functioned as organ of the Japanese Government-General of Choson, was intimately associated with discourse of newspapers. At first, some kinds of family novels, Cho, Jung-hwan 's 〈SSANGOKLU〉 and 〈JANGHANMONG〉, are really famous for a duplicated character. As results, these novels had disseminated family patriotic sentiment and contributed to serve with colonial discourse.
However, after the Second World War, the western translated novels had introduced because of highly elated interest in the Western Great Powers. Through these works, those novels were deviated from tears of new school drama in family nobles.
Meanwhile, Yang Guan-Sik translated the famous noble, 〈HONGLUMONG〉 which included realistic criticism. It seemed to have postcolonial vision opposite to Japanese colonial discourse. Following Yang's Noble, 〈JIN HAK-MUN〉 translated 〈CHUNHI〉 of DUMAS into 〈HONGLU〉, which introduced a love of prostitute which was different with mutual women. However, these translated nobles did not win popularity as much as previous family nobles. Then, Maeil-Sinbo offered a prize on the original full-length nobles.
As the above discussion, in the 1910s the adapted and translated nobles of 『Maeil-Sinbo』 were free from simple conventionality of the initial family translated nobles which were focus on popularity. Therefore, these nobles had acquired the nutritious element which contributed the modern literature through the professional western-literature translation and the reception of modern civilization.
