The curriculum of art history department in Korean Universities has theory of art history and actual training course which are focusing on oriental art history, western art history, and Korean art history, and field investigation which is focusing on the ground learning. Field investigation must be a valuable opportunity for the students who would like to major in art history in the future.
However, field investigation which is managed by art history department tends to be carried out a superficial annual event and causes some problems which are relating to participation rate, personnel organization, issue of a collection of materials, passive attitude in participation of students in spite of its educational effect and significance in the field investigation of cultural heritages. Futhermore, in planning and management of field Investigation, the present investigation shows that it is short of some aspects to maximize educational effects.
This paper is aimed at suggesting a few alternatives for the problem in field investigation of undergraduate and graduate school which I mentioned above. Moreover, it indicates that 'Field Investigation and Education of Art History' has a significance in both aspects in deepening cognition of art history and bringing about learning motivation, and ensuring materials for art history and its education.
