Sungjupuri is a mirror ref1exing residential culture, and a kind of prism refracting residential culture by several ways. We can find a real state of residential culture by means of Sungjupuri. Sungjupuri answer our fundamental question, that is, why we need house, what kind of house we want to, and what we pursuit through house and so on. Therefore we can find fundermental problem the begining as origin of house, the home as purpose of house, the architecture as constructure of house, and so on.
The myth of Sungju coexist with the myth of house explain paternal origin of house and the myth of home tell maternal origin of home. A house become a part of residential culture as a means, a home become a other part as a purpose. A person live in sweet home without a economic right of house realize the purpose of residential culture.
Sungjupuri make us aware of a true house is a nest of life and love by pursuing ecological healthy house and moral right house, and by singing a place of childbirth and death. And traditional house is not only a residential space of human being, but also a residential space of gods and domestic animal. A space of house is a life-ecosystem networking several relations that a horizontal relation of families, a vertical relation of parent and son, a transcendental relation of human and gods, and an ecologic relation of human and domestic animal. But a house lost the several functions of house, that is, child birth, rite space, nest of life and love and so on.
In Korea, nowadays the diffusion rate of apartment is first in the world. But the citizens is estrange from house as goods, and technical development. A house is became the means of increasing private property. More sad thing is the fact that real builder can not possess the house. A alienation phenomenon of house is the most important issue of residential culture. We must cognize this problem.
