The purpose of this study is to verify the relationship between transformational/transactional leadership and organizational effectiveness of the sport organization managers. More specifically, this study aimed: (1) to analyze the effects of the socio-demographic variables on the transformational/transactional leadership, structural characteristics of organization, and organizational effectiveness, (2) to analyze the relative effects of transformational/transactional leadership and structural characteristics of organization on the organizational effectiveness.
Data were collected from a sample of 2ffi employees who worked at the commercial sport organizations which were located in Seoul and near cities. The statistical methods used for the analysis of this study were one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis.
The results of this study were as follows:
First. there were statistically significant differences between socio-demographic variables of the organizational employees and transformational/transactional leadership, structural characteristics of organization, and organizational effectiveness. That is, (I) male, higher status, and over six year job career showed more adaptable to transformational leadership, (2) male showed more adaptable to transactional leadership, (3) male and high-level income showed more adaptable to structural characteristics of organization, (4) male, higher status, and under one year job career showed more adaptable to organizational effectiveness.
Second, transformational leadership was the most effective variable on the job satisfaction of the employees.
Three, structural characteristics of the organization and transactional leadership were the most influential variables on the intention to tum over of the employees.
