The purpose of the present research was to investigate the effects of contextual interference on development of bimanual skill learning. A total of 60 individuals(12years and 20years+) were randomly assigned to blocked, random, and blocked-random practice condition. Following 180 practice trials with bimanual coordination task of three different generalized motor programs, subjects performed retention tests in both 10 minutes and 24 hours later. Results are as follows. First, for both young and adult group, RT and Mr were faster in blocked practice condition than that of blocked-random and blocked practice conditions during acquisition trials. Second, for adult group, RT and Mr were faster in random and blocked-random condition than that of blocked condition during immediately and 24 hours delay retention test. For children group, RT and MT were faster in blocked-random condition than that of blocked and random condition during immediately and 24 hours delay retention test. Random practice has more performance errors than other two conditions during acquisition trials. But random and blocked-random practice have less performance errors than blocked practice condition during immediately and delay retention tests. Overall results of this study have partially supported the hypothesis Magill and Hall(1990) and Hall and Magill(1995).
