The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between emotional development and interpersonal relation orientation of children's participation in sport activities . 450 children from the age of eleven through thirteen have been chosen by using the stratified cluster random sampling method. Out of the 450 questionnaires responded to, only 405 were used for data analyses because 45 responded to incompletely or incorrectly.
The survey questionnaires were 1) Based on Abrahamse(1970) and Wolman(1978) research, the questionnaire which Kim(l992) developed and further used by Kang(l996) was used to measure child's emotional development: and 2) the questionnaire for interpersonal relation orientation developed by Schutz(1966) and standardized in the Korean language by Yoon(1998).
The statistical methods utilized in the study for analyzing the collected data were reliable analysis; descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, and standard multiple regression analysis. From the results of this study, the following conclusions were drawn:
First, emotional development and interpersonal relation orientation by children's participation are partially different.
Second, child's emotional development influences partially interpersonal relation orientation.
