There is a viewpoint in a descriptive literary tradition that the subject keeps an equal & confidential relation with the object. When supposing that this viewpoint is a symmetrical world view, there is a fixed principle in making its appearance. That is the principle of Mubyunmujung. In Gum-o-sin-hwa and Gi-jae-gi-i, unlike other myths and folklores, there is a wide distance between social structure and the hero’s circumstance, and he(she) has a desire which is not suitable for his/her circumstance. When this desire is not achieved at all in the rigid social structure, the principle of Mubyunmujung is certainly needed. In 『Gum-o-sin-hwa』and『Gi-jae-gi-i』, the principle of Mubyunmujung links together only the desire of personal dimension, while being not related to the social dimension. but its meaning is significant because it raised intrinsic tension degree of the literary works extremely. In this point, Gum-o-sin-hwa and Gi-jae-gi-i have been distinguished from myth and legend.
