The purpose of this manuscript is to manifest how these tales are related with both countries' national traits or cultural characteristics by means of comparison and analysis of the predestined marriage tales between Korea and China folk tales based on the conception that there is an act of providence between men and women transcendently.
First of all, After analyzing Korea and China folk tales I have found that they can be classified into two categories; one is an acceptive type for the predestined marriage and the other is a defying type against it. In Korea, the acceptive type can be re-classified into the direct acceptive type and the indirect acceptive type, while in China, it can be re-classified into the acceptive type from dreaming and the acceptive type from heaven.
The results of the analysis show that the two countries' folk tales have the absoluteness of predestined marriage in common, but they pose the different attitude in terms of the specific structure, the rate of presence and performing methods.
Korean folk tales admit the absoluteness in themselves, but they perceive all the existence which acts as an obstacle to the predestined marriage as an existence which must be removed in order to realize the providence of gods if people enter into the predestined marriage in a flexible and harmonious atmosphere, and thus, there is few compassion and sympathy in themselves. On the other hand, the absoluteness of China looks more absolute and overwhelming than that of Korea by means of realization of the predestined marriage as what one should do.
Furthermore, both parties' falk tales commonly regard the predestined recognition as a higher one than a moral dimension. While the folk tales in Korea consider human's harmonious relationship with the components of destiny, those in China do not consider some factors for other relationships because they count on the orientation of the predestined marriage.
In other words, Korean people view the predestined marriage in terms of harmony, persuasion and weaker intervention of gods, whereas Chinese people place more values on the order of social hierarchy focusing on the methodology of removing obstacles. This shows that both countries' folk beliefs, basic philosophies and systems have acted upon those respective folk tales in various ways.
