The purpose of this study is to raise several problems in the current Korean orthography, and to figure out ways to correct these problems.
The major findings of this study are as follows:
First, the Korean dictionary 'Pyojun Gugeo Daesajeon' which was compiled by the national institute of the Korean language, presented 'ani-yo' as a right answer of the yes-no question. Although we used 'ani-o' as an answer of the yes-no question in the past, but lexicographers regarded 'ani-yo' as a right form. They explained that 'ani' can be used as an answer by itself, therefore 'ani-yo' was made by linking the auxiliary word 'yo' to the exclamation 'ani'. In this paper, I verify that 'ani-o' is a right answer of the yes-no question, and it is a conjugated form of 'ani-da'.
Secondly, I investigate the derivational suffixes '-i, -hi' which derive the adverb by attaching to the stem. Generally the derivational suffix '-hi' originate the adverb, by linking to the stem which can be attached to '-hada'. And the derivational suffix '-i' originate the adverb, by linking to the stem which can't be attached to '-hada'. On the other hand, in case that the final consonant of the stem is 's(siot)' even though '-hata' can be attached to it, the derivational suffix '-i' is taken. But, there is no rule in case that the final consonant of the stem is 'g(giyeok)'.
Therefore I examine the case that the final consonant of the stem is 'g(giyeok)' closely, and establish regulations about the selection of the derivational suffixes. There is a rule that we select '-i' in case that the language type of the stem is a native tongue, and '-hi' in case that the language type of the stem is a word written in Chinese characters.
