The purpose of this paper is to study aspects of modernity in the poems of Kim Choon-Su and Kim Su-Young.
They have something in common that they are trying to pursue the poetic freedom through writing. Kim Choon-Su is willing to enjoy the feeling free and released by excluding history and reality in his poems. Kim Choon-Su makes a kind of binominal opposition to consolidate this excluding mind. This binominal oppostitional thinking acts inter-dynamically with the poetic mind of Kim Choon-Su who is willing to put the value of poem on the aesthetical and artistic dimension. This becomes the foundation of 'poetics of exclusion' with agreeing to the world-view of modernism which is founded on exclusionism.
The meaning of freedom for Kim Su-Young is expressed as the will to resist and dismantle the established value system. He as a critical intellect shakes and dismantles the standard of value system which the established literature was holding. This takes concrete shape of aspects where the established recognition categories of poetry are mixed with going in and out the boundary and is revealed as an aspect of postmodernism to overcome the limit of modernism founded on binominal opposition system.
