Cho, Dong Ho(l892-1954), alias Yujong, was born and raised in Okcheon in Chungcheongbuk-do Province. After Korea was colonized by Japan in 1910, he chose to become a patriot by joining independence movement.
He went to China in 1914 and entered the Department of Chinese Literature in Gumrung College(now Janjing University). He graduated from the school in 1917 and then he came back to Shanghai landed a job at Guguk Daily as a reporter. He made efforts to raise a consciousness of independence and regain national power.
After joined Dongjesa in Shanghai and independence movement, he established the Shinhan Youth party with Yeo, Un Hyung and jang Duk Soo in 1918 and participated in Sino-Korean Hojosa as a representative of Korea with Yeo, Un Hyung, Lee, Yu Pil, and Yun, Hyun Jin in 1921. In 1944 he arranged the Korean national foundation by organizing the Choson National Foundation Alliance.
He played an important role in the process of establishing the Korean Provisional Government in Shanghai on April, 1919 and published the government newspaper The Independent on August. During the time, he developed Korean consonants and vowels selected from the Korean Bible. He also had independence movements in China by Koreans known home and abroad and wrote many letters to join the movements.
In 1932 he purchased Jungang Daily News and published Monthly Jungang and Youth Jungang through which he engaged in the anti-japanese strife by the media. However, he had a hard time when he joined the establishment of the Choson Communist Party in 1925.
Thus, he led the media strife against japan as a reporter. He organized many organized groups and engaged in the independence movement until the 1940s. In particular, he played a great role in organizing the Korean Provisional Government in Shanghai as a government representative.
