If we reconsider the history of war between Koguryo and Baekje, it could be divided into the four periods: the mutual competition, Koguryo's hegemony, Baekje's alliance with Silla, and peace-war coexistence period.
In the first, mutual competition period(369~390 A.D.), Koguryo and Baekje struggled against each other in the Hwang-Hae province: early Baekje's agression and later Koguryo' s counter attack against Baekje.
In the second, Koguryo's hegemony period(391~433 A.D.), Koguryo with the superior military capacity pushed Baekje to Han-Imjin river line and reached to the southern area of Korean peninsula.
In the third, Baekje's alliance with Silla period(433~550 A.D.), Koguryo hardly handled the Baekje-Silla alliance with the inferior and ineffective military capacity.
And finally, in the fourth, peace-war coexistence period, the three nations waged war against each other. Silla struggled against Baekje for the possession of Han river area and Koguryo appeared the main enemy to Silla. So in these situations, Silla adopted strategically her national survival policy to shake hands with China, Tang dynasty. And this last resulted the Silla's hegemony in Korean peninsula which later in the 7th century was inevitably related to the international war in the North-East Asia.
So in this history of war between Koguryo and Baekje, we can confirm the real politics thesis that three independent and individual nations' search for the national interest justified every means and methods for goals. And three nations mobilized between 30000 and 50000 soldiers for each battle but Koguryo more than this number against Tang: this suggest that Koguryo's main interest layed not in the southern area of Korean peninsula but in the West-North area meeting China.
