In recent years, historians have concerned with history movies. In this article, history movies can be defined as a spectrum with ‘movies based on history' on one hand and ‘movies writing history' on the other hand. ‘Movies based on history' describe complex contexts of the past from the today's perspective. So they illustrate the situated conditions of movie production periods. These movies' representation of the past gives us "today's standpoint realizing the past". Through that standpoint we can analyze ‘history' that movie producers consume in the first stage. When movie audiences see the history movie, they consume 'history' in the second stage and through the "tomorrow's standpoint understanding the present, we can analyze ‘history' that movie audiences consume".
History education for the history consumption is needed to use the movies that were made in recent times and were a box office hit. In this article, we analyze the movies concerning korean history, chinese history, and western history that were in release during the past fifteen years. In history education, history teachers in university need to ask the students for the project based learning. Project based learning in history education for the history consumption through the history movie, is needed for collecting and analyzing the several informations concerning the history movies. It is also needed for constructing the history movie information archive. History researchers are asked for showing an enthusiastic attitude toward writing the movie essays.
