The purpose of this study is to examine aspect and significance of Limwha's metacriticism [=theory of literary criticism] in the second half of the 1930's. The ‘mtacriticism’ that originates from the self-consciousness and self-examination of criticism is regarded as a philosophy criticism. It have been set a high value on the Limwha's metacriticism that was based on the aesthetic theory of Marxism-Leninism. Limwha made an effort to rebuild the leadership of literary criticism that established in the KAPF's criticism during 1925-1935 years.
Limwha's metacriticism is composed of three different theory, namely literary criticism as the cognitive structure, creative criticism, literary criticism as valuation. (1) Limwha' consider that literary criticism is a recognitive behavior, and he emphasize the active role of critic. The theory of criticism as the cognitive structure is based on the theory of aesthetic reflections and figurative cognition of art. (2) The creative criticism that is very emphatic on the creativity of literary criticism regard as important a subjective thought of critic. Limwha emphasized on autonomy and independence of literary criticism. Limwha's theory of creative criticism have strong roots in surplus utility of literary works and the important of critic-positions. (3) Limwha argued for the literary criticism as valuation that is more concerned with the valuation than the interpretation in the critical process. In this opinion, the ideology of critic is emphasized, because it can maintain authority of critic and literary criticism.
