The form of documents has been slimmed in 2009 educational curriculum. The slimming provides standard guidelines to write textbook. This research tried to show how the slimming of educational curriculum documents affected Korean history textbook writing for high school and to characterize. Also the procedure of textbook writing has been observed in national curriculum.
For that, six of Korean history textbooks have been analyzed comparatively and six of three textbook writers have been interviewed. Then, influence factors which affected textbook writing have been tracked. The influence factors in writing textbook have been seen in the changed environments.
As a result, Korean history textbooks for high school have different configurations and different narratives by writer’s view of history, understanding of curriculum, writer’s view of student.
This research suggests publishing various history textbook for learning history of student. For publishing various history textbook, the purpose of textbook screening system should be actualized and the slimming of educational curriculum documents as basic principles should be kept.
