The main purpose of this paper is a study on the Modernity and value as history of Korean poetry of Pak, In-hwan’ poetry. His poetry appear aspect of complexity and diversity that is not remain modernism as the trend of literary thoughts. His early works show cognition of reality is based on the realism, and intellectualistic poetry is based on the nihilistic existentialism published after that organize ‘Hubangi’ group and experience of Korean-war. Poetry that give shape to the traveling in America sharply captures the alienation of an individual and a group, what is called cultual criticism, to which has occurred due a small and weak nation and diseases incidental to modem civilization. And his poetry show popular poetry are based on the nihilistic sentimentalism.
Like this, his poetry mixed various poetic trends. His poetry of a distinctive feature by reason of experience of Korean-War, disorder of postwar days. The other reason is his poetry that are wrote twenties. Therefore his poetic world go through the process of formation in this period. This poetic trend is a contrast to a vanguard poetry of ‘Jo hyang’ or modernistic intellectualism poetry of ‘Kim, gyu-dong’ on 1950’s. Therefore, Pak, In-hwan’ poetic identity is in course of formation while confront against a stormy period.
