This study starts from what stranger entering into a new place needs the most. Moreover, it also says about what is good for him, and what he urgently needs. Generally speaking, what he needs is tolerance(or, hospitality) or careful consideration. Therefore, this study focuses on two thinkers who deal with the question in depth: Habermas and Derrida. This paper attempts to deconstuct their thoughts on tolerance and hospitality, and to reorganize so that it goes over whether or not their suggestions are truly convincing or validating. The main reason why this study chooses them is because they regard hospitality and tolerance as the most noteworthy and desirable virtue in human behavior, and also focus on the matter, and suggest more sophisticated and idiosyncratic analyses than anyone else. Nevertheless, as there are the loopholes in their assertion, the purpose of this study is to suggest a new perspective on the matter, through criticizing their theories of hospitality and tolerance.
