As a practical theology in terms of David Tracy`s theological portraits, this prolegomena to a theology of rehabilitation attempts to provide preliminary foundations for theological construction for liberation of the disabled. In Korean socio-cultural context, other parts of the world as well, the disabled are seriously isolated, marginalized, oppressed, and alienated from the society. A theology of rehabilitation sensitively challenged to those oppressive socio - cultural systems and tries to liberate the disabled socio-ontologically and psycho -spiritually to live as the subject of their lie in the society. It is not only challenging the oppressive system but also encouraging the disabled to liberate themselves. Here the liberation implies not only the socio-cultural but also spiritual recovering one. In terms of theological standpoint, even though the theological category is in the area of experiential - practical theology, it attempts a theological enterprise from a neo-evangelical theological perspective. Rehabilitation theology is not in favor of the theological foundationalism as such, but rather it takes seriously contextual dimensions of doing theology, while maintaining the Biblical core ideas. Also, unlike Latin American liberation theology or Minjung theology, the rehabilitation theology has more theoretical foundations. The disabled have Han like that the Minjung has (Blues in Black Theology), and they are marginalized from the society as well. In that respect, the disabled can be regarded as Minjung. But the theology of rehabilitation is not so much a Minjung theology, because it deals more with theoretical and specific issues of the disabled and their relation to the society. It is a contextualized theology, as it deals with fundamental issues of the conditions of the disabled in Korean socio -cultural stratification. There are four major categories to be critically analyzed and theologically constructed. 1) It is Cultural-Linguistic form of oppression toward the disabled in Korean socio-cultural context. There have been so many insulting and cursive languages and expressions toward the disabled. 2) Socio-ontological rehabilitation needs to be attempted as the disabled was marginalized and alienated in their socio - economic conditions and ontological limitations. 3) A construction of Liberation-ethics for rehabilitation is demanded, as the disabled were oppressed and dehumanized. And 4) Psycho-spiritual rehabilitations is strongly encouraged for the disabled, which is the prime aspect of this study. There is an unsolved dilemma of interpretation of the Biblical languages and expressions on the disabled in both religious and social dimensions in the Biblical times. The description in the Gospel of John about the explanation of Jesus on an inborn blind man became the basis for the interpretation of the disabled. This is a preliminary study on the theological issues about liberation of the disabled, and it needs further developments in the future.
