This dissertation is the purpose that it examines in the literature of Lee Gwang-soo whether it was formed and the Imaginative Geography about China became image with the then national discussion or not because of being how.
It was the space realizing the ambivalence of the imperialism and Shanghai was the space of the possibility breaking away from the colony to Lee Gwang-soo. But shanghai didn’t have the hope of the independence any more. It was the space of the frustration which cannot realize the national discussion putting the foundation on the civilization.
Negatively Beijing’s Imaginative Geography is reappeared in His Autobiography in the literature of Lee Gwang-soo. Happen that in the difference of the spatial image transcendentally formed with the experience space. A priori formed Chinese image is the space of Beijing and the layer to Lee Gwang-soo. That is, negatively Beijing’s Imaginative Geography was formed by the eye line of the memory of the common called history and imitated empire.
It is included in the latter half of His Autobiography in Orient’s category and negatively the Imaginative Geography of formed Beijing is converted to the other image. Lee Gwang-soo is overcoming the negative image about Beijing with the thinking method of his causationism.
