This paper claims that both adnominal together and adverbial together operate on events. The difference resides in the types of events that they are associated with. To be specific, this paper claims that the events associated with adnominal together reveal the characteristic of quantized complexity while the events involved with adverbial together can be characterized as either stuff complexity or temporal complexity. By being associated with quantized events, adnominal together naturally carries the implication of telicity, in contrast to adverbial together. Zimmermann (2002) has provided three types of complex events. According to him, events reveal participant complexity, stuff complexity, and temporal complexity. In addition to them, this paper identifies quantized complexity of events, in line of Krifka (1989), finding its empirical evidence in adnominal together.
